Although nutrition is increasingly recognised as a vital component of critical care, the optimal nutritional management of critically ill patients with COPD remains challenging. Accurate nutritional assessment and calculation requirements, timing and route of nutrition, along with the potential benefits of specialised nutritional interventions, remain subjects of much debate.
